Calum Gunn is a London-based musician and artist whose art encompasses academic computer music and rave culture. His work mainly focuses on the deconstruction of dance music, in particular rhythm. Recontextualising classic rave sounds and early techno, Gunn puts them in a new framework, with irreverent yet clinically precise juxtapositions. Drawing from a wide range of musical, timbral, methodological and ideological sources, "Clipe" takes the form of an audio barrage, compressing complex rhythms into tight temporal spaces. Shifting and groaning synths, triggered by an impossible drum machine.
